A superb example of a Roman Republic Silver Denarius of Metellus Pius Scipio with M. Eppius, legatus, military mint moving with Scipio in Africa.
Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius Scipio referred to as Metellus Scipio was Roman senator and military commander during the civil war between Julius Caesar and Pompey. He was in support of Pompey and led troops against Caesar’s forces, mainly in the battles of Pharsalus and Thapsus.
Graded almost Extremely Fine, bold detail to obverse with traces of original mint bloom, a very nice example when in the hand.
