Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus

Marcus Aurelius, was known as the last of the Five Good Emperors of Rome. Coming from a prominent family of Rome, Marcus married his cousin Annia Galeria Faustina the Younger, the youngest daughter of emperor Antoninus Pius.

He was a well known Stoic philosopher writing a number of books on the topic, his most famous being Meditations.

Marcus’ reign (161-180AD) was an age of relative peace, stability and good government, upon his death then empire descended into civil war, to some Marcus personified the golden age of the Rome Empire!

Marcus was succeed by his son Commodus.
