1035-1042 Harthacnut Silver Penny gVF – Exceedingly Rare
A rare Danish/English king to obtain at the best of times.
This arms and sceptre type, is not only well struck with a bold portrait of the king facing left, it is beautifully toned!
Believed to be struck from the hand of the moneyer Frithewine, in Steyning (West Sussex).
Few peck marks to reverse, graded as Good Very Fine.
Exceedingly rare, possibly the first recorded coin of this type struck at the mint of Steyning.
