Artabanos II

Was the King of Kings of the Parthia empire from 12-38/41 A.D with a one year interruption. Although he was not from the ruling branch of the Arsacid royal family, he came from Royal heritage, his farther, Dahae a prince, his mother a daughter of the king of kings Phraates IV who battled against Mark Antony. Phraates IV was a cold blooded, he murdered all his brothers, and also possibly his father!

Prior to being crowned as the King of Parthia, Artabanos ruled the  Media Atropatene, an ancient Iranian kingdom which in his later reign served as his base of attacks against the Roman-supported Parthian king Vonones I of which he later defeated.
